Winston-Salem based Foothills Brewing has acquired the beer division of Carolina Beer & Beverage of Mooresville for an undisclosed price.
The acquisition includes the company’s equipment, trademarks and brands including the popular Carolina Blonde and Cottonwood Ales.
With the acquisition of the division and its production equipment, Foothills Brewing will quadruple its brewing capacity and add 10 sales and production employees over the next year.
“We consider this strategic decision as very positive for the future of both our companies,” said Jamie Bartholomaus, president and brewmaster of Foothills Brewing, in a statement. “Carolina Beer wanted production of its beloved brands to be in North Carolina, and we are glad to accommodate. For those of us who enjoy a cold Carolina Blonde or Cottonwood Ale, rest assured that production will remain uninterrupted and the brewing integrity of Carolina Beer brands will be completely preserved as we transition ownership to Foothills.”
The acquisition comes as Foothills plans to move its brewing operations to a 48,000-square-foot production facility at 3800 Kimwell Drive in the Stratford Industrial Park. Company officials expect brewing at the new facility to begin later this year.
