Chile Beverage Company CCU Aims To Invest $914 Million In 2011 2014

Chilean beverage company Compania Cervecerias Unidas SA (CCU, CCU.SN) plans to make investments of 433.9 billion Chilean pesos ($914 million) in the 2011-2014 period, the company said.

CCU, as the company is known, plans to strengthen its beer and non-alcoholic business units in Chile and Argentina.

Also, by 2013 CCU aims to start operations in a third Latin American nation, the company said in its annual report.

CCU makes and bottles beer, soft drinks, mineral water and fruit juices. It also distills pisco-grape brandy and rum.

Late last year, CCU acquired a cider business in Argentina.

The company has beverage licenses for products from Heineken NV (HINKY, HEIA.AE), Anheuser-Busch InBev NV (BUD, ABI.BT), PepsiCo Inc. (PEP), Paulaner Brauerei AG, Schweppes Holdings Ltd., Guinness Brewing Worldwide Ltd. and Nestle SA (NSRGY, NESN.VX).
