SABMiller PLC’s Romanian Unit Invests over EUR 1.0 Million in New Brewery-SeeNews

SeeNews reported that the Romanian unit of SABMiller PLC will open a small brewery in the northwestern city of Cluj-Napoca in a week, following an investment of more than EUR 1.0 million (USD 1.4 million). SABMiller PLC’s Romanian unit has received approval to sell beer starting from July 1, 2011 and it will open the factory officially on July 7, 2011. SABMiller PLC is present on the Romanian market through Ursus Breweries, which owns four beer production units in the cities of Timisoara, Cluj-Napoca, Buzau and Brasov. In November 2010, Ursus Breweries said it will close its brewery in Cluj-Napoca, which recorded the highest operating costs among its four production units, and will open a small brewery in the same city in the summer of 2011.
