India. Shivsu Canada forms JV with Belgian brewery equipment firm

Shivsu Canada Pure Fillers (SCPF), an India-based manufacturer of integrated botlled water solutions, has created a joint venture with Belgium-based brewery equipment company, PRODEB Brewery & Technology, in attempt to capitalize on the growing beer market in India.

Shivsu, which plans to capitalize on the opening of micro brewery licenses by the Government in several states in India, expects to invest nearly INR2 crores ($20m) in each brewery and establish about 100 micro breweries by the end of fiscal year 2011-12.

The Indian company has plan to launch, in addition to regular lager or ales, various flavors of beers such as Apple, Peach, Litchi, Kriek and Chocolate through these micro breweries and brewpubs.

The company will also produce Stout beers, Artizanal beers as well as a special beer for women in the offing. The alcohol level present in the micro brewery / brewpubs is said to range from 3% to 8%.

SCPF technical director Sushilkumar Eashwaran said the Indian market for different types of beers available in Europe is still at a growing stage in India.

“America / Europe have more than 2500 micro breweries / brewpubs and we expect the same numbers in India in the coming years,” Eashwaran said.

The business activities of SCPF, a member company of business conglomerate Shivsu Group, include Pet Bottle Blowing Machine, Pet Bottle Rinser Filller Capper, Galsss Bottle Washer Filler Capper, Polycarbonate Washer Filler Capper and Liquor and Beverage Packaging Machinery.
