Uganda. Nile Breweries extends tree planting to Kabale town

Nile Breweries Limited (NBL), Uganda’s leading beer maker, has extended its tree planting drive dubbed ‘Green Towns Project’ to Kabale town, said a company statement.

Nile Breweries planted 465 trees on the streets of the town and Rugarama forest reserve under the town council.

“Our project is part of Nile Breweries contribution to the greenery and beauty of Kabale town,” said Ronald Mayanja Omugalanda, Communications Manager Nile Breweries Limited.

Nile Breweries has carried out similar projects in Arua, Gulu, Nebbi, Hoima and Mbarara.

“We have been partnering with the municipality to coordinate and monitor the planted trees and happy to do same in Kabale,” said Mayanja.

The Kabale Town Clark, Peter Matsiko, expressed gratitude to Nile Breweries for the Green Towns Project.

“On behalf of the Municipality, I appreciate the gesture expressed by Nile Breweries in environmental protection, to plant trees in Kabale Town,” Peter Matsiko, Kabale Town Clark.

He added pledging full support that Kabale Municipality is ready to continue working with Nile Breweries in such cause.

“Nile Breweries has solved our challenge of lack of trees in Kabale town, by implementing this project, as this was one of the municipality priority that was pending fulfillment,” Byamugisha Sentaro LC 3 Chairman.

The Green Towns Project complements the company’s sustainable development.

Nile Breweries is the leading producer of beer using local raw materials and a subsidiary of SABMiller plc, the world’s second largest brewer.
