Carlsberg Viet Nam has put into operation its new canning line (number 4) at Hue Brewery, located in Phu Bai Industry Zone in Hue City.

The new canning line, imported from Germany for almost EUR6.4 million (US$6.93 million), can produce 60,000 cans per hour, 25 per cent faster than the previous production lines dating from 2011.

The company also said its Huda Gold product (a sub-premium brand of Huda) had won the silver medal at the 2015 World Beer Championships in the United States for the second time, with a score of 88/100. It was also marked ‘highly recommended’ by industry experts for its outstanding and consistent quality. Huda Gold first won this award for the first time in 2013.

“The inauguration of this new canning line is proof of Carlsberg’s continuous investment for its further sustainable growth in Viet Nam. I strongly believe the new canning line will significantly support us to continue brewing consistently high-quality Huda and Huda Gold products for consumers, as well as satisfy their increasing demands in the central region,” Tayfun Uner, CEO of Carlsberg Viet Nam, said.

Carlsberg Viet Nam has contributed more than VND1.3 trillion ($58.5 million) in 2015.

Carlsberg is one of the first Danish multinational companies to enter Viet Nam, making its first investment in 1993 with brands such as Carlsberg, Huda Gold, Huda and Halida.

In 2011, Thua Thien-Hue Province sold its 50 per cent stake (worth VND1.875 trillion or US$93 million) in the Hue Brewery Company to Carlsberg, helping the Danish beer giant to acquire full ownership of the brewery.
