Kentucky Ale is getting popular outside the state.
Alltech announced last week that it will triple the output at the Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. so that the beer could be sold in six more states and China.
The Kentucky Ale family of beers is currently sold only in Kentucky and Ohio, but recent deals mean that it will soon be available in Indiana, Massachusetts, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin and ship it overseas to China.
Kelly Rice, director of business and marketing development for Alltech’s beverage division, told the Lexington Herald-Leader that it’s exciting to expand into markets such as Boston that have a reputation of being “beer meccas.”
