Ukrainian Corporation “Obolon” signed a price agreement with Belgospischeprom on the conditions of beer supply to Belarus. This was reported by a specialist of “Obolon” Corporate Communications Anna Ponomarenko. According to her, now the price of the company’s products will increase significantly in Belarus – up to 49%.
“Obolon” Vice President of Business Development Victoria Alimova said that “the signing of the contract with the Belarusian side is a necessary step.” “We had to do everything possible to avoid losing market completely, so we will increase selling prices for Belarusian counterparts,” BelaPAN quoted a corporation representative.
She also noted that “Obolon” hadn’t still resumed deliveries to Belarus. “Our official importers have only applied for a license, and our beer will be missing in some districts for some time,” Victoria Alimova explained.
The talks resulted in agreement to increase prices for beer in plastic bottles by 49%, although the Belarusian part suggested a 65% increase. “However, even this result makes the Ukrainian beer uncompetitive in the Belarusian market: the price on the shelf will increase significantly,” said “Obolon” vice-president.
As Telegraf previously reported, the Lithuanian manufacturers of alcoholic beverages announced about the increasing pressure from Belarus’s competitors due to the duty free legal import of products. Belarus has already ranks second in the beer exports to Lithuania, as well as 20% of beer imports market.
