Asahi Breweries Takes Top Spot In Japan Beer Market In 2010 -Data

Asahi Breweries Ltd. (2502.TO) regained the top spot in the Japanese beer market in 2010 in terms of number of cases shipped, according to data released Monday by major companies in the industry.
Asahi’s beer shipments during 2010 fell 2.8% to 172.217 million cases, giving it a market share of 37.5%, ahead of rival Kirin Holdings Co.’s (2503.TO) 36.7% share.
In 2009, Kirin knocked Asahi off the top spot for the first time in nine years.
