Dutch brewer Heineken NV (HEIA.AE) has resumed production in one of its two Egyptian breweries, the company said Monday.
“We have resumed production at one of our breweries while at the other brewer, located in El Obour, preparations have begun to start filling cans and kegs,” Heineken spokeswoman Anoeska van Leeuwen said.
Van Leeuwen added it depends on the developments in the region when the production at the El Obour facility will resume. “For now we have sufficient stock to fill the cans and kegs,” she said.
Last week Heineken said it halted operations in Egypt and evacuated its 25 expatriate employees and asked its local employees to stay home following the civil unrest in the country.
