A new bill to allow breweries in Tennessee to sell strong beer between 5 and 20 percent alcohol content at the brewery site has passed the Senate on Friday and was given final approval by the House on Saturday. Now it is being sent to the governor for his signature. The new legislation is aimed to attract a new $200 million Sierra Nevada brewery. The successful craft brewer from Chico, California is currently looking to establish a new brewery and is considering a site in East Tennessee. However the brewer said, without a change in the current state law, the brewery could not sample products at a taproom and restaurant alongside the new brewery.
