Grupo Modelo’s quarterly volume grows by 8.8%

Grupo Modelo, S.A.B. de C.V. and Subsidiaries, the leading brewer in Mexico and producer of the best-selling Mexican beer in the world, on Friday announced its financial and operating results for the second quarter of 2011. During the second quarter of the year, total volume sold in the domestic market, including the imported brand portfolio, increased 8.0% compared to the same period in 2010, for a total of 10.9 million hectoliters. Summer is in full swing and with it comes trips into nature and to the water. Czechs, famous for their love of beer, don’t want to miss their favourite drinks even during their summer activities, and for this reason they often brings their drinks in cans. A statistic from the Gambrinus brewery supports this as well. In the winter, cans account for approx. 4.5% of all packaged beer on the market, that number reaches 7.5% in the summer. (more…)
