Diageo Forms 50-50 SA Sorghum Beer JV With Mallya, Pays $36 Million For Stake

Diageo PLC (DGE.LN) said Monday it reached a joint-venture agreement under which it will pay 36 million dollars for a 50% stake in the company which owns United National Breweries’ traditional sorghum beer business in South Africa, with the other 50% to be held by a company affiliated to United Breweries Chairman Vijay Mallya.

-The transaction, which is conditional on consent from the South African competition authority and other things, is expected to complete in 1H
-Shares at 0908 GMT down 4 pence or 0.2% at 1853 pence valuing the company at GBP46.6 billion.
