Beijing Zhongging Heli International Exhibition, organizer of CHINA BREW CHINA BEVERAGE (CBB), expects the trade show to be held as scheduled from October 13 to 16 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). Messe Muenchen Shanghai, responsible for the international exhibitor participation supports the plan. Hence, the preparations for CBB 2020 are proceeding normally. The supporting program, organized by Doemens, will shed light on what is moving the industry.

The outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has strongly impacted developments worldwide. Stephen Lu, Chief Operating Officer Messe Muenchen Shanghai, explains: “We are taking the spread of the Coronavirus very seriously and have been monitoring the local situation closely. Based on the current developments in China, we are confident that the conditions for holding the trade fair are in order.” After intense communication with the exhibitors, Petra Westphal, Exhibition Group Director Messe München, believes that “despite the current uncertainties, the importance of our trade fair remains intact. Maybe even more than before. Especially in these times, a leading trade fair like the CBB is extremely important for the Asian beverage industry to stimulate the market.”

This is underlined, among others, by Endress+Hauser (China) Automation, Husky Injection Molding Systems, Kieselmann, Krones and Ziemann Holvrieka Asia. The companies report that their Chinese offices are fully working again and the planning process for participating at CBB is in full progress. The Krones AG is “looking forward to being a part of this year’s CBB, because meeting face-toface is really important – and the CBB is the ideal platform for that.”

The supporting program of CBB 2020
Doemens, the internationally renowned and successful academy for training, further education and consulting for the brewing, beverage and food industry, will organize a forum, supported by the Institute for Brewing and Destillery (IBD), and the media partners Soft Drinks International (SDI) and hbMedia. Topics will range from craft and German style beer, non-alcoholic beer to tea based beverages, mineral water and water as well as packaging.

Demand for machinery and equipment is expected to remain stable
In a cautious forecast, the VDMA Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association expects the Chinese beverage market to remain on growth course. China continues to be one of the top sales markets for suppliers of machinery and systems for the production, filling and packaging of beverages. Although China has a strong local engineering base for the food and beverage industry, the local supply is, according to the VDMA, not sufficient for the Chinese beverage producers to meet their often large-scale investment projects. Particularly in the high-performance sector, they continue to rely on imported machines, which they procure mainly from European countries. In numbers: Between 2015 and 2019 Chinese manufacturers imported packaging machinery for the beverage industry and brewery machinery worth a total of 2.8 billion euros.
CBB therefore remains an important meeting place for the industry in Asia and shows what is driving the industry today and will drive it tomorrow.
