Beer Business #4-2018. Kazakhstan beer market analysis

Beer market of Kazakhstan acquired both traits of East European countries and South Eastern Asia taking a transitional position between them by many criteria and consumption style. Yet there is a positive trend in beer production which differs Kazakhstan from most of the neighboring countries. The market has remained consolidated in the hands of two international players because of its small size. However, it faces dynamic processes such as fast growth of draft beer sales, up and downs of regional companies and Carlsberg Group’s ultimate expansion. Excessive mainstream segment has declined over the recent years, yet, Zhigulevskoe and national brands with regional links have yielded their positions to a range of new products. In our review special attention was paid to regional analysis of the markets. In 14 regions of Kazakhstan we compared the companies’ positions, the market price segmentation and DIOT channel development. Beviale Moscow: Final preparations for the central platform for the beverage industry in eastern Europe

It’s all systems go as preparations continue for the fourth Beviale Moscow, to be held at the city’s Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center from 19 to 21 February 2019. Beviale Moscow, the central platform for the beverage industry in eastern Europe, achieved impressive record figures in 2018, and the organizers are expecting strong interest from the industry again in 2019. The trade fair adopts a comprehensive approach, reflecting all aspects of the process chain. In special shows as well as the accompanying conference programme, it will also focus on key points such as wine production in Russia, the Soft Drinks and Craft Drinks segments, and also beer and packaging solutions. Modular production: GEA and Siemens jointly use MTP automation standard

The GEA and Siemens technology groups are announcing their cooperation on a Module Type Package (MTP) digitalization project at the SPS IPC Drives automation exhibition in Nuremberg (November 27–29, 2018). MTPs functionally describe the properties of process modules independent of manufacturer and technology. Using the keyword “standardization,” the partners are using a Plug & Win separator as an example to demonstrate how the standardized exchange of data between the automation system and the engineering system leads to shorter time to market, greater flexibility, improved product quality and efficiency. Preliminary results of 2018 confirm the trend for the beer production stabilization. The decline that started as far back as 10 years ago and went even steeper in 2014-2015, seems to have stopped. But one should hardly expect a considerable market growth in the coming years. Unstable volume growth was set off by higher selling prices by big and regional brewers. Carlsberg Group stands out from the market leaders by their positive dynamics improvements of the product mix. Growth of Obolon was provided by export contracts. AB InBev Efes so far have not managed to climb into positive territory. (more…)
