The Brewers Association, Boulder, Colo., announced its board of directors voted to change its definition of “craft brewer.” The term “craft brewer” now includes any independent brewery that produces up to 6 million barrels of traditional beer. (more…)

The American craft beer movement is just over 30 years old – and the people who started it are still driving the ship. Yes, there were some brewing pioneers in the mid-1970s who were emphasizing artisanal values and making the first modern American craft beers – like the venerable Anchor Brewing Co. and New Albion Brewery in Northern California.
For me, the movement begins with Anchor but is defined by the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., which celebrated its 30th anniversary in November 2010. (more…)
Keynote speakers Fritz Maytag and Ken Grossman will officially open the Brewers Association’s Craft Brewers Conference (CBC) in San Francisco, Calif. on March 23. More than 2,500 of the world’s leading brewers, brewery owners and brewing supply professionals are expected at this year’s CBC.
