Malaysia. Guinness Anchor boosts profit by 19.3% through cost reduction

Guinness Anchor Bhd (GAB) boosted its second-quarter (Q2) net profit to RM90.84mil, up 19.3% from a year earlier, mainly by improving its cost-efficiency.

The brewer told Bursa Malaysia that during the three months to Dec 31, 2015, it phased certain brand advertising and promotion investments, which will take place in the coming months. The company also achieved higher sales to retailers. (more…)

Guinness Anchor Bhd (GAB) does not expect any major shift in business directions following the takeover of its holdings company GAPL Pte Ltd by Heineken NV last October.

GAB MD Hans Essaadi said despite having a new parent entity, GAB is committed towards its business model which has propelled it to become a leading brewer in the market with a strong product line. (more…)
