Vietnam. Beverage sector contributes $1.3b to budget

The beverage industry contributed VND30 trillion (US$1.3 billion) to the State budget last year, according to the Viet Nam Beer, Alcohol and Beverage Association (VBA).

At a conference held in Ha Noi yesterday, VBA Chairman Nguyen Van Viet said the beverage industry continued to grow over the past five years despite the difficult economic times that have resulted in many other kinds of companies struggling or shutting down. (more…)

Vietnam. Big waves in the beer market

According to the Euromonitor data, the high company’s share in the beer market does not guarantee a large profit. Thus, Sobeco controls 46% of the Vietnamese beer market, its revenue in 2014 amounted to 30.000 billion dongs and net profit to 4,000 billion dongs. At the same time, VBL controls 18.2% of the market, but its profit is estimated at 6.200 billion dong. (more…)

Vietnam. VN People Dealbook: Sabeco and Habeco replace chairmen, central bank dismisses DongA Bank key executives

Changes in personnel at the top level at several Vietnamese businesses have taken place. At DongA Bank, following its recently exposed financial problems, its chief executive Tran Phuong Binh and deputy CEO Nguyen Thi Ngoc Van had to step down, to be replaced by people from the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam. Meanwhile, the country’s two largest brewers, Habeco and Sabeco, has also witnessed the change in the chairman position. (more…)
