The Beer Institute estimates that there was a 1.6% drop in taxable removals of 180.024 million barrels of beer in 2010 compared to 2009. Unofficial national brewer production indicate an increase of 1.9% in taxable removals of 13.550 million barrels in December 2010 compared to 13,300 million barrels in December 2009, the Beer Institute informed.
Domestic taxable removals (also know as Tax Paid Removals) measure the amount of beer shipped from domestic brewers to distributors within the U.S. market.

Imports of Malt Beverages:
The United States Department of Commerce reports total imports of malt beverages from all countries from January to November 2010 amounted to 25.271 million barrels (+4.8%).

Exports of Malt Beverages:
The United States Department of Commerce reports total commercial exports of malt beverages to all countries from January to November 2010 amounted to 2,847.4 thousand barrel (-11.8%). (This figure does not include shipments to military posts overseasor shipments to Puerto Rico and other US territories.)

State by State Shipments:
The State-by-State Beer Shipments Estimate for the January to November-Period is estimated to have decreased by 1.6%, for November 2010 to increase by 3.2% from November 2009. (These shipment volumes represent the amount of beer shipped from brewers and importers to wholesalers within the U.S. It is the best available proxy for total malt beverage “consumption” in the United States. The state-by-state beer shipments estimate is the cumulative total of all states.)
