On July 4, 2008, SABMiller plc, one of the leaders brewers in the world, entered the Ukrainian market, having bought «Sarmat» enterprise. During the last three years, the private company «Miller Brands Ukraine», a new branch of SABMiller, has completely modernised the acquired facilities and integrated the company into the global structure of the group, as well as introduced several new brands of the global SABMiller portfolio to the Ukrainian market. SABMiller finds way of reducing raw material costs

SABMiller has announced that its Peruvian subsidiary, Backus, in co-operation with Packaging Products Peru, has developed a new, low-gauge bottle crown that will significantly reduce the amount of steel used in production and have a positive impact on the group’s raw material costs and C02 emissions. Global brewing giant SABMiller PLC /quotes/zigman/309144 SBMRY +3.38% said Thursday it will enter the high growth market of specialty beers, where its main competitors Belgian Anheuser-Busch InBev NV (ABI.BT) and Dutch Heineken NV (HEIA.AE) are already active, with a distribution agreement with the Belgian Van Steenberge Brewery.
