India. HC declares Punjab excise policy provision invalid
The Punjab and Haryana High Court today declared invalid a provision in the Punjab excise policy of 2016-17 for allotment of licence under a new category, L-1A, to entities that only were allowed to buy liquor directly from breweries and distilleries. (more…)

It’s been two weeks since Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa signed the file to down shutters of 500 Tasmac shops across the State and reduce the operating hours of outlets. Witlinger craft beer positions itself as a brand associated with The Adventurer personality with the tag, “Fearless. Daring. Spontaneous. First to try”. Since that description fits me to “T”, the beer already had my attention before I had even taken a sip. Gurgaon being a hub of microbreweries, attracts a major chunk of NCR’s craft beer lovers. And these beer lovers have preferences of their own. Some like it light, while there are others who prefer a stronger flavour. A chat with some of the brewmasters in the microbreweries in the city will tell you that each type of beer, be it wheat, lager or dark, is preferred by a certain kind of drinker. India. Proposal sent to shut 23 Tasmac outlets in Coimbatore
The district unit of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) has sent a proposal to the state government to shut 23 Tasmac outlets. Officials confirmed that 13 of the outlets are located in Coimbatore North and 10 of them are in Coimbatore South. (more…)
